Adjusting Your Sails

William Arthur Ward wrote, “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.”

Community dynamics and demographics have changed significantly since the start of the current financial crisis.  The high mobility, fast growing communities that were the stock in trade for church planters are now harder to find.  When you find one, it will be saturated with lots of new churches and probably a few mega churches.

It’s never our goal to “compete” with the folks who precede us in a community but the reality of their presence will impact nearly everything you do.

My husband, Phil, is working on a new project.  He asked me to take a look at it and tell him what I thought.  I was tremendously encouraged by it and thought all of you might be also.  The video to the first segment follows. Your feedback would really be appreciated.

For further ideas on outreach, Phil’s book, “Guerrilla Evangelism – 23 free things you can do right now to get people into your church” is available in Kindle format at…

As you adjust your sails to accommodate a fresh wind – or no wind, you may have to do more with less. However – “I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish…”    Romans 1:14  We are constrained to find a way!
