Great article! I am feeling that i need armed policemen at our youth service. Our goal is to reach the baddest of the bad and if we do we are asking for trouble. Our youth service brings in over 500 each Wednesday and i feel like i have a responsibility to protect my flock.

I agree with the premise, but carp are pretty dominant. The fight way harder than bass. I've fought numerous carp for over 15 minutes, with one fight lasting over 30!

A big carp on a two-weight fly rod is an awesome battle!

Steve,

Right on!

Two books that are hugely helpful here:

1) Communicating For A Change - Andy Stanley teaches the give one idea principle.

2) Made to Stick - the authors tell how to make the one idea stick!

What neither one of these books talk about is the time thing... right on!

Thanks Steve!

This brings to mind the chapter in Donald Miller's Blue Like Jazz about the confession booth. He and his friend on campus built a confession booth during a weekend of craziness at the school, and spent that weekend apologizing to non-Christians about the misdeeds of Christians. By far, my favorite chapter in the book. I'd love to get one of those "please forgive me" t-shirts!

I really like some of your points here. I never waited tables, but I was infuriated when I recently heard that there are Christians who leave 'tracts' as tips in restaurants. What a terrible witness! I know that would certainly not stir my interest in being part of that church, and possibly not in Jesus, either. I now realize that I am representing Christ when I am in places like this, and I try hard to make sure the waiter/waitress is taken care of. After all, they are serving us, while our call is to serve them!!
